Since buying his first bass in 2004, Mark Michell has since splashed onto the scene with his vast résumé of creative and educational endeavors. He has recorded bass for many studio albums released to critical acclaim with Tetrafusion, solo artist Chris Letchford, and international recording artist Scale the Summit who have toured with YES, Dream Theater, Zappa Plays Zappa, Between the Buried and Me, Periphery, Protest the Hero, Cynic, TesseracT, and many more.
His three most-recently recorded albums were released to Billboard-charting acclaim in the Top 200, Top Rock Albums, Top Independent Albums, Heatseekers Albums, Top Current Albums and Contemporary Jazz Albums categories.
With years of collegiate jazz experience, dozens of national tours under his belt and press features in Bass Guitar Magazine (UK), PROG Magazine (UK), Bassiste Magazine (FR) and Rock Hard Magazine (DE), Michell has established his role as one of the newest driving forces in the bass community.
Coupled with his creative work, his educational offerings have served as an accessory to his love for music. Since 2011, Michell has been teaching full-time to students around the globe offering live clinics on tours to hundreds of students and has published six books for bass ranging from instructional topics such as technique, sightreading, bass line composition, and tablature notation for his albums.
January of 2016 saw the release of his first instructional DVD "Advanced Rock Bass" after signing a worldwide publishing deal with Hal Leonard Music Corporation, and later that year was hand-selected to the panel of professors to teach at the 2016 Warwick Bass Camp in Germany alongside many of the best bass players in the world.
His immense passion for teaching has since led to the founding of Low End University, his own online bass school offering over 200+ professionally-filmed lessons providing 24/7 streamlined education to students with new content posted weekly.
